Trying to do my project in Advanced pc and I can not do so due to I do not have Microsoft access and do not have money to pay for it. This sucks because now I'm stuck. I need my classes switched to something else.

Can someone help explain the discussion board??

I went through the lesson plan and everything but I'm still unsure about the discussion boards. When I open it up, there's two questions. I'm supposed to answer those in 6 well written sentences, correct? If so, then why do I have to add a title? What's the title supposed to be? I'm not sure why but I am so baffled by this and I'm afraid to fail! Help!!

Your best option may be to check Microsoft's website for Office 365. They have a one month free trial offer and afterwards they have a reasonably priced monthly plan if you need to use Access past the trial period.

I wish you the best of success!

Here are Information Literacy Discussion Board instructions that are also on your portal:

DB instructions on portal

http://lessons.pennfoster.com/pdf/SP1100.pdf

Additionally here are detailed instructions the discussion boards for Information Literacy:

Please do not post responses to discussion boards on the Community. They are graded assignments and cannot be graded of they are posted here.

Please know the discussion boards are on your Student Portal/My Course Page, they say DISCUSSION and are BRIGHT BLUE BOX and have exam numbers. They are graded exams but grades as P, RTN or F.

The first two discussion boards are your opinion. The last 4 WILL come from work you must complete in the Study Units and post your responses and answers to the discussion boards. Each discussion board should be a total of 3-6 sentences minimum. Most question have more than 1 part. Each part DOES NOT have to 3-6 sentences but the ENTIRE post must meet that minimum.

Here is an example of what an answer for discussion board #1 may look like:

"We need information in our lives on a daily basis. We need it to find news, recipes, weather and even traffic problems. I use Google, Facebook and sometimes the Weather Channel app. to get updated information on various things on a daily basis."

Here is an example of what an answer for discussion board #2 may look like:

“I feel that having additional resources at my disposal will assist me in my course work by helping me understand how to do better research which will help me to write better reports and projects. I can see how understanding research techniques will assist me my future job which may include researching case law and criminal cases as well as laws in different areas.”

Please note: the course MAY NOT work on a mobile device, a tablet or i-pad; it was designed to work on a desktop or a laptop.

ALSO the course is BEST viewed in the browser Google Chrome.

If you have issues with the discussion boards please check the following:

The discussion board does pop up in a window. It could be in a separate tab on the browser and you may need to look for it. Please check other tabs on the browser where the discussion board appears. Also, you should allow the popups on the browser, if this is disabled, the user doesn't see the discussion board.

Please be sure you are reading the Digital Study Guide for the course that is found on your My Courses Page.

Please be sure to click on the discussion board you wish to respond to ( you are answering the question that is asked, you are NOT creating a question) by clicking "create new message." Once the box opens you will see the subject line, please type in the title of your posts on that line. The title/subject can be anything related to the post such as: Why do we need information or DB1, 2, etc. In the reply text box you will type the content of your post (which must be 3-6 well written sentences that actually answer the questions). Once you have typed in that box you then click “the create new message” button.

All discussion boards are initially marked as P for being posted. Please note: instructors do read them and can change the P to an RTN or an F if posts are not appropriate or do not follow the guidelines. If an RTN or an F is received the student has 30 days in which to repost to change the grade.

Additionally here is a copy of the Information Literacy course webinar which explains the course and discussion boards in detail:

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/1071607505838601991

Note: You will be unable to see other students’ posts until after you post yourself.

IF YOU MAKE UP YOUR OWN QUESTIONS THEY WILL BE MARKED AS RTN OR F AND YOU WILL NEED TO REPOST FOR A P GRADE.

If you need assistance, please contact an instructor from the “contact us” feature on your

Student Portal page.

HOW TO CONTACT US:

Email: edserv@pennfoster.edu state what you are emailing about in subject line

OR

If you have a concern about a question you should contact an Instructor at the School. You can call 1-888-427-1000 and ask to speak to an instructor.

OR, you can open your student portal, click on "Contact Us" on the right side of the screen, select "Find Answers", type anything in the question line and click search, and then select the "Ask a question" tab. Fill out the form with your question and submit it to the support team. An instructor will respond as soon as possible.

If you want to send a message to your instructor you should log onto your student portal, click on the link for the "Help Center" found on the right side of the page, and then click on the "Find Answers/Ask A Question" button. Type anything into the search bar and click on the "Search" button. Click on the tab that says "Ask a Question/Contact Us". You can now fill out the form with your question for Macroeconomics. You should direct the question to be handled by the instructional support teams. You will receive an e-mail reply.

I wish you continued success in your studies!

Question/Concerns for Instructor(s) of Intro to Biology

I am writing this because I am getting very frustrated with the grading of my biology research paper.

I have now had my paper returned to me on 3 different occasions. The first time, it was a simple fix, I left out my in text citations, I made that change and submitted it. It was returned a second time, the instructor was impressed said I had very great information and that the in text citations were a major improvement. The next thing I needed to fix was a few run on paragraphs and include my opinion paragraph. That's all. The instructor clearly stated that was my only thing missing and I was at an 85% grade if I were to submit it without those changes. I'm okay with an 85%.

Now, for a third time it was returned to me. Basically disregarding everything that was told to me the second time my paper was returned. Now, they are asking me to basically re-do my whole paper.

I don't understand if one instructor or multiple instructors are grading my paper, but it's getting very frustrating for me to continue to edit my work.

Whoever graded my paper the second time was very supportive and helpful, explained to me what I needed to fix and I did so. If I were at a brick and mortar college, my paper would not be returned to me on multiple occasions. I would get the grade I deserved the first time, the instructor would explain to me what needed to be improved, and I would take that advice for the next time.

I appreciate instructors allowing you and giving you the opportunity to edit your work on multiple occasions. But, I am not used to these "special privileges" I am very grateful to be completing school online and given this opportunity, but when you can't seem to complete your work properly and get multiple feedback that defeat each other, it's very frustrating.

I need some clarity on who is grading my paper, if there are multiple instructors doing so, they are giving me different feed back which defeats and clashes with each other. If an 85% is what my paper deserves, then I'll take that. I've made the changes that you've asked of me, and you still find other flaws. Please clarify.

Thank you.

I would recommend removing this post or at least your student id and phone number. Post like this one are public for everyone in the student community and believe me there's a lot of students.

To help address your concern in the best way I would recommend calling student care at 1.888.427.1000 or you can go to this link https://community.pennfoster.edu/docs/DOC-63297#comment-508265 for other ways of contacting the student care team. The student care team will be able to look at your account to answer your questions with the most accurate information.

Best of luck with your continued journey,
