Probably best to call customer support (or contact the instructor) to find out about the tools. As for the questions. No, you don't have to do the ones that are in the book unless they are part of a graded project which happened to me three times already in 2 months. But, I found skipping those exercises only makes the real test much harder to take and I have less knowledge of the subject. So now I do all the practice stuff. It really is tempting to blow it off, but its really in your best interest to complete them.
