Try these instructions:
To create the chart:
Click Insert on the ribbon, go to the Charts group, select Column, and
select the 3-D clustered column graph. This will place a blank graph in
your document. Move it out of the way if it is blocking your
worksheet. Right click on the graph and select "Select Data". Delete
whatever is showing in the box labeled "Chart Data Range". Hold down
the Control key and select the data ranges A5:A16, E5:E16, and J5:J16.
Hold down your Control key while highlighting the data in these ranges
with your mouse. Click OK. The graph will be created with the correct
data graphed. To change legend information, right click on the legend
and select "Select Data". Select "Series 1" Select "Edit" and type in
the correct legend entry. Repeat this for "Series 2" To add the title,
click on "Layout" on the Chart Tools ribbon, and click on "Chart Title"
to add the chart title.
Note: If the information on your worksheet is in different ranges
than those specified in the directions, substitute your range of values
instead. For example, if your supplies are in cells A6:A17, use this
range instead of A5:A16. The information you want to graph is the types
of Office Supplies, and the total costs of each supply for January and
February. If you have problems highlighting the cells to create the
graph, type the information directly into the Chart Data Range box. It
will read: =Sheet1!$A$5:$A$16,Sheet1!$E$5:$E$16,Sheet1!$J$5:$J$16
