I'm starting my research project for intro to biology and I am trying to figure out if the whole thing is to be written in APA or just the reference and citing.

Hi I am working on my Research paper for Biology.  I am a little confused on if the whole paper is done in the APA format or if I am suppose to just do the Reference and Citing in APA Format.
